Organizational Leadership & Management

• Provide leadership and direction to all staff, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization to include effective decision-making processes that will enable Providence House to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives

• Instill in all staff the sense of respect they should show to clients in all programs and to each other

• Show solid commitment to the professional development of staff; successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team

• Set clear priorities, delegate and guide investment in people and systems

• Ensure the provision of high quality services in compliance with funding source requirements

Revenue Development/Communications

• Take an active leadership role in development activities and efforts of the organization and work closely with the Board in efforts to increase revenues from foundations, individual donors and corporate funders

• Work toward growing Providence House’s funding from private sources by aggressive outreach to current funders and new prospects while seeking to achieve fully sustainable funding from public sources

• Instill in all staff the importance of fundraising in their dealings with outside constituents

• Concentrate on raising money from major gifts with the thought of recruiting a seasoned major gifts officer to assist in that effort

• Develop and leverage an on ongoing communications, public relations and branding strategy in order to raise visibility for Providence House as well as increase revenue for the organization
Fiscal Management

• Provide oversight to COO with regard to financial management of the organization, including but not limited to facilities management, housing development and associated capital improvements

• Working closely with the COO, develop the annual budget for presentation to the Board, and develop proactive financial strategies that address an increasingly competitive and ever-changing landscape

• Prudently manage Providence House’s budgetary guidelines insuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial accounting and reporting

• Assess viability of programs and implement a business plan that prioritizes programs and projects going forward

Board Relations

• Collaborate with the Board and direct the Chief Operating Officer in the implementation of the organization's strategic goals which could include an active strategic planning effort, while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with Providence House's core mission

• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals to be developed in a strategic plan

• In partnership with the Board chair and nominating committee, help build a diverse and inclusive Board that is highly engaged and willing to leverage and secure resources

Government Relations
• Inform and advocate for public policies that affect the services and resources that government provides to Providence House’s population

• Work with leaders within all levels of government on systemic changes relevant to the sector, including but not limited to the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS), Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS)

• Continue existing and develop new collaborative relationships with other service providers in the field of homelessness and supportive housing, as well as training, employment and mental health service providers

Program Oversight

• Provide accountability for program compliance and quality assurance, and as necessary provide oversight regarding the development of new program initiatives

• Keep abreast of current trends regarding Providence House’s programs and anticipate future development of new or expanding programs
