Articles on Leadership and Recruiting
Every
month, DRG reviews best thinking and practices in professional
staff recruitment and development in the nonprofit sector.
Our
current article Keeping the Best
by Lawrence Lynch provides several important suggestions about
how executives and organizations can address staff turnover
and improve the retention of top performers. Recent studies
emphasize that employee satisfaction is based upon interaction
with supervisors/front line managers and that the measures
are trust, communication and flexibility.
We believe
that retaining top performers and providing them with high
quality executive development education is the best way for
nonprofits to "grow their own" executive talent
for the future. Organizations who create cultures that encourage
retention and then support executive development will be positioned
well to deal with the future challenges of leadership transitions.
